Fallbrook resident speaks at organic growers seminar

On August 31, L&M Fertilizer put on an organic growers seminar to inform the organic grower on the different types of organic products available to them. Three speakers — Perry Gooch, Dominic Criscenti and Scott Wiederhold — from different organic fertilizer companies spoke at this year’s seminar. They each discussed the different types of organic fertilizers their companies had available. These ranged from pest control to root rot control to just plain organic fertilizers.

Perry Gooch from Global Organics/Bioflora was the first to speak to the audience of over 50 people. He informed them about the different types of fertilizers Global Organics/Bioflora has available to the organic grower. The main fertilizers discussed were Humega, approved Humic acid and 7-8-4 Crumbles. He explained how Crumbles is a very popular organic fertilizer because it contains all the essential plant elements.

The next speaker was Fallbrook resident Dominic Criscenti from JH Biotech. Dominic went over different types of pest and root rot control available to the organic grower. He gave an excellent presentation using the alphabet as his outline. ‘A’ was for their product ‘Ant Out’ and ‘Z’ was for ‘Weed Zap.’ He went through the majority of the alphabet explaining each product JH Biotech had to offer. His presentation was very informative and at the end many audience members had questions for him.

The final speaker was Scott Wiederhold from California Liquid Fertilizer. He discussed the benefits of using Biolizer liquid fertilizer. He talked about their main products, Biolizer XN (Extra Nitrogen) and Biolizer GP (General Purpose). He explained how Biolizer Liquid Fertilizers have increased the size and amount of fruit on trees where the product has been used. When he finished his presentation, he gave the audience members free samples of Biolizer GP to try at home.

At the end of the meeting, the growers had the opportunity to talk with local certifiers Lois Christie from CCOF (California Certified Organic Farmers) and Charlie Heerman and Ro Elgas from GOCA (Guaranteed Organic Certification Agency), a local business that helps farmers around the world.
