TEMECULA — Be Greek for a day! Take a ride to sunny Greece on Saturday, September 30, or Sunday, October 1. Greece will be in Temecula for the annual St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Food Festival. The scent of all the tasty foods wafting in the air will make you think you are strolling through a marketplace in Greece. For your enjoyment, combination dinners including barbecued lamb, souvlakia, Athenian chicken, gyros, pastitsio, dolmathes, spanakopita, tiropites and every favorite Greek dessert and pastry you can imagine (including our very own baklava) will be offered to go with your made-to-order Greek coffee.
Live Greek music by Levendia will be provided for your listening and folk dancing pleasure. We encourage you to kick up your heels in joyous Zorba-style dance. There will be two performances each day by dancers in authentic costumes from all the regions of Greece to give you inspiration. There will be booths offering Greek imports, religious icons, specialty groceries, jewelry, Yia-Yia’s attic and much more. Children can enjoy games and activities all day long.
Admission and parking is free. Saturday hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. All activities will be held at the Old Town Temecula Community Center on Pujol Street. For more information, call Karen Vestakis at (951) 693-9729 or Dimitri Thevios at (971) 837-7199.
