Information presented by Farm Bureau

BONSALL — Eric Larson, executive director of the San Diego Farm Bureau, recently spoke to Bonsall Rotary and amazed his audience with information on San Diego County agriculture. The Farm Bureau is a nonprofit organization supported by farmers that acts as its advocate where needed: state legislature, local governmental issues, environment concerns and water, for instance. He was a man of many statistics (very illuminating), including the following:

• There are 250,000 acres in cultivation in the county with 5,500 farms (65 percent of San Diego County farms are less than 10 acres).
