Lawrence Welk had a six-foot champagne glass? Find out more at the Welk Museum!

Memorabilia abounds at the Lawrence Welk Museum at the Welk Resort. Photographs of Welk as Grand Marshal of the Rose Parade in 1972, three gold records and the largest champagne glass I’ve ever seen. The six-foot-tall champagne glass is made of crystal with a solid stem and a bowl fashioned with individual crystals attached to a wire backing. No one seems to know how many crystals it took to make the glass; and I had neither the time nor the patience to count them myself. This unique piece of stemware was created for Welk’s 25th anniversary television show in honor of his “Champagne Music.”
