Republicans deserved their 'comeuppance'

As a longtime Republican stalwart, I am celebrating the “comeuppance” which we gained on November 7! We deserved it! Now perhaps we can regroup and accept that our party has been taken over by the “extreme right” whose only concern is the “bottom line.” We now have a chance to return to GOP principles of smaller government, pay-as-you-go and support of John Citizen. Far right evangelicals and corporate greed have ruined our party – let’s change that!

Never again should our party be trying to change the outside world – we’ve got more than enough problems at home! If we weren’t so “strapped” in paying for military adventures overseas, and the expensive weaponry needed, we could be taking care of things at home – global warming, for example. By so doing we would win accolades from our world neighbors instead of the hate and resentment we’re earning under current policies.

President Eisenhower (a real Republican) had it right – “Beware of being taken over by the military/industrial complex.” My friends, that’s exactly what we’ve allowed to happen!
