Karl I. Bakken, 79, passed away December 8, 2006, at 2:50 a.m. He was born July 31, 1927, in Artesia, CA. Mr. Bakken was a lifelong resident of Southern California.
Mr. Bakken served as a hospital corpsman in World War II and received a Master’s degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Pomona Campus. He taught vocational agriculture in El Centro two years and at Fallbrook High School from 1956 to 1979. He also served as a consultant in agriculture education, Southern Region, for the California State Department of Education for eight years. Additionally, Mr. Bakken taught agriculture as an interim instructor at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo for one year. He was also nominated to the Agriculture Teachers Hall of Fame at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
Mr. Bakken is survived by his wife Gina; daughters Kathleen of Elsinore, CA, and Susan of Texas; son Michael of Georgia; and six grandchildren.
There will be no services.
