Many letters have been published recently concerning the war in Iraq. I served in the U. S. Army in 1970 and 1971 and know the carnage war can inflict. May I remind us of a far deadlier war within the borders of our country? This war takes over 3,400 lives each day, more than were lost on 9/11 and more than have been lost in the entire war in Iraq. This war is waged against women and their babies. This war is largely driven by an industry that makes hundreds of millions of dollars dismembering these helpless infants who feel pain without the mercy of anesthetics.
