Rally planned at Fallbrook Airpark

FALLBROOK — Area youth will have a chance to take to the skies on Saturday, May 5, as Friends of the Fallbrook Community Airpark and Chapter 1279 of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), French Valley Airport, hosts a Young Eagles Flight Rally at the Fallbrook Airpark, 2155 South Mission Road.

Fifteen aircraft and pilots are expected to participate, along with 50 boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 17. The first flight is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. and activity should go until about 12:30 p.m. Spectators are welcome to visit.

The rally is part of the EAA Young Eagles Program, created to interest young people in aviation by providing a free ride in a small airplane. Since the program was launched in 1992, volunteer EAA pilots have flown more than 1.2 million young people in more than 90 countries.

Following the flight, each young person will receive a certificate making them an official Young Eagle. (See more about Young Eagles at http://www.youngeagles.org.)

All participants are pre-registered and no vacancies presently exist for this event; however, there will be a sign-up list available at the registration desk for a planned September rally.
