FALLBROOK — For the seventh year, the Big Del Burrito Challenge is being offered at La Caseta restaurant during the Fallbrook Avocado Festival. Last year, 22 brave souls attempted to devour the four-pound burrito but only 12 managed to win the challenge by eating it in the one hour allowed. Jesus Perez consumed his in 4 minutes, 46 seconds, making him the 2006 winner.
The challenge is offered only during the Avocado Festival, in commemoration of the 1992 festival, during which La Caseta built a giant 2,237-pound burrito that made the Guinness Book of World records four years in a row.
The cost of the Big Del Burrito is $10.95. However, for those who can eat the whole thing – while adhering to the rules! – it’s free. The challenge will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on festival day, April 22.
La Caseta Mexican Restaurant is located at 111 North Vine Street. They can be reached by phone at (760) 728-9737.
