Daughters of British Empire remember Princess

Upon the tragic death of Princess Diana 10 years ago, the Fallbrook chapter of the Daughters of the British Empire (DBE) adopted a downtown tree and dedicated it to her memory.

This August 31, several members of the DBE gathered at the “Princess Di tree” to acknowledge the tenth anniversary of the event. Roses (“Princess Diana” variety, of course) were placed at the base of the special tree, located at the downtown intersection of Main and Alvarado.

The Fallbrook chapter of the DBE was chartered in 1983 by a handful of women hailing from Britain, Canada and Australia. It has since grown to more than 60 – and is still growing. Friendships are important to its members, but equally important are their fundraising events that benefit many local nonprofit organizations.
