FALLBROOK — Fallbrook resident Young Milton was recently named to the Fallbrook Food Pantry Board of Directors.
Milton regularly volunteers her help to the organization by assisting with correspondence, creating flyers for food drives, fundraising campaigns and managing the Web site.
“Volunteers and board members at the pantry are truly delighted and grateful to Young for her many contributions to the organization,” Jean Dooley said. “She inspires all with her spirit of enthusiasm and cooperation.”
Milton moved to the United States with her family from Vietnam when she was 12 years old.
Her journey to the US included a terrifying 11 days at sea on a small fishing boat and six months in a refugee camp in Indonesia.
Milton’s family was granted permission to enter the United States because her two older sisters had been educated as nurses in Vietnam.
In the state of Washington, Milton was an honor roll student in school. She was named valedictorian of her high school graduating class.
She earned two college scholarships and attended Brigham Young University, where she earned a degree in management of information systems in 1990. It was there she met husband Chris, who owns Milton Financial.
After working for Waste Management of Chicago and Times Mirror Cable, Milton has spent the last nine years as a full-time mom to Patrick, Daniel and Y’Lan.
She is an active volunteer for her children’s PTA and for the Fallbrook Food Pantry.
