On April 18, 2008, Fallbrook resident Pvt. Lynn Hopkins graduated from Basic Combat Training at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina after 10 grueling weeks of preparation to serve in the United States Army. Her company was divided into four platoons of 60 privates each with the platoons broken down into four squads of 15 with a squad leader for each.
Lynn was selected for the platoon leader position where she excelled, receiving commendations from the company Captain and 1st Sergeant. She is now stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, where she is in advanced individual training to become a chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear specialist, with this training lasting another 10 weeks.
