FALLBROOK — The Friends of the Fallbrook Library are busy raising funds for the town’s new library.
Residents are encouraged to support the fund with any donations possible, which may be sent to Friends of the Fallbrook Library, PO Box 2586, Fallbrook, CA 92088.
Residents continue to put the library to good use and the Friends have surveyed some of the residents and are pleased to report the diversity of use they discovered.
Beth Cobb orders books for her book club online at http://www.sandiego.gov/public-library, then picks them up in Fallbrook. She recently borrowed audio books since her mother was having eye surgery and wouldn’t be able to read during her convalescence. Cobb also enjoyed the recent classical guitar concert held at the library.
Tricia Greenwood homeschools her six children – Malary, 13; Robert, 11; Audrey, 9; Joseph, 8; Frank, 5; and Brian, 4 – so trips to the library are essential. She also orders books online for their lessons.
She considers the library a very family friendly place. In particular, she mentioned the computer games, puppet shows and reading programs.
Malary admitted that she loves to “get away” to the library for peace and quiet.
When her children behave nicely in the library, Tricia rewards them with book purchases from the Bottom Shelf (used bookstore on the lower level; purchases benefit the library fund).
Jose Zapata finds the library a great place for research. He’s planting a vegetable garden for a friend and has read several books on organic gardening. His daughter Laura, 12, enjoys browsing for books and especially likes stories about animals.
