It has come to my attention that the new owners of J.J. “Purty” Landers have changed their mind regarding the Karaoke Night on Wednesdays with Dr. Bill. They have shut down this family-friendly event, much to my dismay! Instead, it is their decision to replace it with an evening of hip-hop.
I don’t even sing karaoke myself, but I sure enjoyed sharing the evening with friends and new acquaintances. It was a real pleasure to see families come and enjoy a night out together. To watch the kids build their courage to go up on stage and sing was entertainment in itself! And then to watch to their pride and joy at accomplishing this feat was very heartwarming indeed! I hadn’t considered what a great self-esteem and confidence builder karaoke is for them!
Dr. Bill donated his time to bring into our community this fun evening every week. He didn’t have enough time to get the show established and I am sorry the community is going to miss out on this enjoyable event. Fallbrook/Bonsall is in need of family-orientated activities that are affordable, interactive and have broad appeal. It’s a darn shame that we had one such activity in our grip, and now it’s gone.
To the owners of Purty’s, I ask that you reconsider your decision. Think of Dr. Bill’s Karaoke Night as a family and community contribution! And to Jason: thanks for the ‘baby’ Blue Moons!
