Warrior Basketball on a Roll

sketball looks to have a new passion and new goal from last year.

The team has started with a 4-1 record and looks to improve that as the league season approaches. The varsity team, coached by Jeff Brandow, is led by Danny Bashara and Bryan Gordon. This team started out their season against Orange Glen where they routed the Patriots by a score of 70 to 38. This game was a great way to start the season as every individual on the team got playing time.

Superior play was seen by Danny Bashara, a junior guard, who put up 25 points in the Warrior victory. Aggressive play was seen by Bryan Gordon, a senior forward, who put up 16 points and Alex Askew, a sophomore forward, who put up 12 points and had five offensive rebounds. The Warriors aggressive man to man defense allowed for many points off turnovers. The Warrior gymnasium was packed full including representation from the Warrior Jazz Band, and the atmosphere was stellar.

The basketball team then took their game up to San Luis Obispo over the December 5 - 6 weekend, where they participated in a tournament. The Warriors went three and one in the tournament and took home fifth place.

The team continues to “beat with one heart” and seems to be working as one unit on their way to a goal of winning the league title for the first time in quite some time. The next step for the Warriors will be participating in the Holiday Invitational in Mar Vista and the Granite Hills Holiday Tournament in Granite Hills.

The next home games are January 5 against Elsinore at 6:30 p.m. and January 8 against Vista at 7:30 p.m.
