FALLBROOK – Potter Junior High seventh grade student Kayla Hanner and eighth grade student Ben Huff were December’s Students of the Month. The category for the award was respect, and Principal Dr. Tere Petersen was happy to introduce them to the Rotary Club of Fallbrook at their weekly Thursday luncheon meeting.
“Two of Kayla’s classes are AVID and Honors Language Arts in which she is an awesome example of respectfulness,” said Peterson. “The words ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ are common words Kayla uses.”
“Ben has worked very hard at being a P.E. leader by teaching students sports skills, techniques, role modeling and playing hard during games with good sportsmanship,” said Peterson of Huff. “He has earned the respect of classmates and all the teachers in the P.E. department.”
Petersen is a member of the Fallbrook Village Rotary Club. Presenting the students with Certificates of Achievement was retired FUESD Superintendent and past President of the Rotary Club of Fallbrook, Janice Schultz. The monthly student of the month award is part of an ongoing Club program to award excellence in academics, student behavior and contribution to the classroom.
