Heavy artillery practice scheduled for Saturday on Camp Pendleton; noise expected to travel up to 50 miles

FALLBROOK - Officials from United States Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton have announced that military units will be firing high-explosive munitions into the Whiskey and Zulu impact areas on Saturday, March 20 as part of a training exercise.

Resulting noise can be expected in the area from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. that day.

Officials said depending on atmospheric conditions, the sound of the firing may be amplified and heard up to as much as 50 miles away....
