FALLBROOK – Four of Fallbrook High School’s (FHS) top students presented their Rotary 4 Way Test speeches to the Rotary Club of Fallbrook at a recent weekly luncheon meeting.
Speaking on a variety of sensitive subjects, Jenna Adams, Kristie Ashby, Wade Colburn and Dylan Dawkins fit their talks into a five-to-seven-minute time frame and within the parameters of the Rotary 4 Way Test, which includes: Is it the truth, Will it be beneficial to all concerned, Is it fair to all concerned and Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
The four students were selected from over a dozen FHS students. Lutz Zastrow, a 14-year political science teacher at FHS, and Dick Goodlake, FHS Interact Club director for the Fallbrook Rotary Club, coordinated the process.
There were two winners, Dylan Dawkins and Wade Colburn, who will now go on to the next level of competition, with students from other high schools around San Diego County brought forward by other Rotary clubs.
The Rotary Club of Fallbrook and the Fallbrook Village Rotary club hold the first competition speeches at their weekly meetings in alternate years. The Fallbrook Rotary judges for this year’s first competition were Laine Allyn, Jim Dutton, John Rutherford and Peter Fellios.
