Motorist killed in DeLuz identified

DE LUZ - A 44-year-old man who died when his Toyota 4-Runner went off the road and rolled down a slope in De Luz was identified today.

Marc Brown, of Temecula, died of asphyxiation and blunt force trauma in the crash, which was reported to the California Highway Patrol about 7 a.m. Monday at Carancho Road, about 100 feet east of Corte Bonito.

The driver was traveling west when the SUV went off the road at a curve and the wheels left the asphalt, said CHP Officer Ron Thatcher. The SUV went airborne and glanced off a tree before going down the slope.
