Dominick Grossi Jr. opened a second location of his popular Fallbrook eatery, Dominick’s Sandwiches & Italian Delicatessen, on April 23. The new restaurant can be found at 118 N. Main, in the heart of historic downtown. The building was previously occupied by a bakery/restaurant known as the Lace Apron.
“We have made many upgrades inside the building; it has no resemblance to the old business that was in there,” said Grossi.
The second location features the same menu and catering options as the South Mission Road restaurant that has been a Fallbrook favorite since its opening in July 1983. Menu items include a wide variety of sandwiches, salads, and pastas. An area of each restaurant is designated as an Italian grocery market for those who like to cook specialty dishes themselves.
“I’m really happy to have a location in the downtown district and to be available to the shopkeepers and visitors,” said Grossi. “When I opened my [first] restaurant here, the spot on South Mission Road was the best available place I could find, but I’ve always wanted to have a place downtown as well.” Grossi said he has been asked many times if he is closing his South Mission Road location and the answer is “no, this is an added location.”
Grossi said he regularly employs nine people at the Mission Road deli and is in the process of adding another five to his staff so as to provide adequate customer service for both restaurants.
The downtown location is open seven days a week and can be reached by phoning (760)
