FALLBROOK – Each spring Rotary Clubs from around the county sponsor contestants from their local high school to compete against others in the annual San Diego Rotary District 4 Way Test Speech Contest. One such recent competition at The Torrey Pines Rotary Club meeting saw Zachary Gillmore from Brawley High School and the Brawley Rotary Club, Dylan Dawkins from Fallbrook High School and the Rotary Club of Fallbrook, Karina Wiener from La Jolla High School and the La Jolla Rotary Club, and Anjelica Thang from Hoover High School in San Diego and San Diego Rotary respond to the challenge.
Wiener, Gillmore, and Dawkins then advanced to Chula Vista for a semi-final round on April 23. Dylan Dawkins, a junior, did not qualify for the finals to be held on May 12 but intends to compete again in the Rotary 4 Way Test Speech Contest next spring during his senior year. He will be next year’s President of the Rotary Interact Club at Fallbrook High School. It is the largest service club in the school.
