FALLBROOK – Fallbrook Organic Gardens will host “The California Garden” workshop on May 15 at Ivy High School. Participants will learn how to build a low water, layered, “no dig” garden with organic gardener extraordinaire Lynne Weiss.
This kind of garden is ideal for small and large spaces on almost all terrain, is a great solution for water shortages, poor soil and rampant weeds, and is low cost to build and maintain. The layering technique builds nutrient-rich soil and creates damp climate perfect for root development. Raised beds are easier to harvest and almost completely eliminate the need for weeding. These gardens are also esthetically pleasing.
Ivy High School is at 1056 Winterhaven Road. The cost of $25 is tax deductible and proceeds support organic gardens in Fallbrook Schools. To register, contact (760) 723-9424 or [email protected] by May 14 as space is limited.
Come prepared with gloves, hat and water.
