Gunnery Sgt. Robert Hudnall Jr. dies on Camp Pendleton

CAMP PENDLETON - Gunnery Sgt. Robert L. Hudnall, Jr., lost consciousness in his command's motor transportation facility here, Tuesday, May 25. and died a short time after.

Hudnall, a 34-year-old motor transportation maintenance chief from Bergen, N.J., was assigned to 5th Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.

Hudnall enlisted in the Marine Corps Dec 13, 1994. Hundall served once in both Afghanistan and Iraq and also deployed with a Marine Expeditionary Unit.

His personal service awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Navy Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Unit Commendation, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.

The Marines and sailors of the 1st Marine Division mourn the loss of Gunnery Sgt. Hudnall.

"Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family," officials said.
