I want to thank-you so much for the wonderful article “Frazier Students embark on 12 Days of Fitness journey” in the May 20 issue about the Governor’s Challenge at William H. Frazier. The teachers, staff, and parents were thrilled to see our students in the news. Debbie Ramsey did a terrific job describing the events and Paul Gallaher’s photographs were super.
I also want to thank all of the presenters and parent volunteers. The “12 Days of Fitness” could not have happened without their help.
Our teachers and staff deserve recognition too, especially Librarian Robin Duarte, who read the fitness books to our students when I was busy in the Health Office, and Martha Garcia, who came up with the idea of having a “flash mob” at our closing ceremony, and then lead the mob.
For me, the highlight of the ceremony was when students came up and presented me with a beautiful bouquet of flowers, but for the majority in attendance, the highlight was receiving their participation necklaces complete with UV color-changing beads. It was my hope that our students would take away one final lesson, and that was to always wear sunscreen or a hat when they go out in the sun.
I know that I cannot possible thank all of the people that deserve my thanks, but I do want to give one last shout out to everyone for bringing fitness to life at Frazier. Remember…we are Frazier Dolphins and we don’t quit! We eat right and we stay fit!
