Warning for Medicare patients

For those who are seniors or those who care for them, you may want to know the latest in Medicare coverage. If you are able to swallow, you will be punished.

Last July, my mother spent two days at Tri City Hospital. She was handed medication in a cup by the nurse and my mother swallowed the pills. Because she was able to take her medication “by mouth,” Medicare refused to pay for her medication. It is considered “self administered.”

If your doctor orders oral medications, refuse them. Only medications via suppository or IV will be covered.
