Local Soroptimist members welcome AFS Speaker

FALLBROOK – Soroptimist International of Fallbrook members welcomed Jim Dooley, Volunteer Hosting Coordinator, of AFS Intercultural Programs USA, as the speaker for their May meeting. Mr. Dooley shared with the group the founding of AFS, how the internationa l high school exchange program works today, and the benefits that students, families, schools, and communities receive through a global volunteer partnership.

Also present was Matteo Marchei who shared interesting stories about his life at home in Italy, and his year living in Fallbrook and attending Fallbrook High School as an AFS student.

Mr. Dooley stressed how rewarding it is for host families to open their homes and hearts to AFS Exchange Students. AFS Host Families often report how enriching it is to share daily life with a young person from another culture and country.
