Treister to attend medical school

FALLBROOK – Andy Treister, a 2005 graduate of Fallbrook High School and 2009 graduate of University of California at Irvine, will be continuing his education beginning in August 2010 at UC Irvine School of Medicine.

During his undergraduate studies at UCI, Treister was a research assistant in the Neurosciences Laboratory. He published a paper on memory and co-authored a paper on epilepsy. For the past year, Treister has been working in two Long Beach hospitals as an emergency room medical scribe.

He has also mentored underprivileged high school students interested in the medical profession through the nonprofit organization Students of Medicine. Andy and his brother Joe, a fourth year medical student at UC Irvine, will be traveling to Honduras on June 27 to work in a medical clinic with other volunteers from the Southern California area.
