Local Boy Scouts earn Eagle rank

FALLBROOK – The Santa Margarita Boy Scout District is proud to announce that Brian Arnold and Troy Monson of Boy Scout Troop 725 and Jonathan Smith of Troop 739 have recently earned their Eagle rank.

Arnold, 15, will attend Fallbrook High School in the fall as a freshman. His Eagle project was to build raised planter boxes for the Fallbrook Community Garden. Arnold says the best part of scouting was the time he hiked Angels Landing Trail in Zion National Park. He credits one of his leaders, Jonathan Berry, for helping him the most in his scouting career saying he “always pushed me hard in advancing.”

Monson, 18, who recently graduated Fallbrook High School where he was on the varsity lacrosse team, is currently attending Brigham Young University where he will major in either biology or engineering. Monson’s Eagle leadership project was the remodeling of the kitchen area at the Fallbrook Food Pantry.

Smith, 18, attends Escondido Charter High School where he plays on the basketball team. Smith’s Eagle Project was to build both a step ramp and a wheelchair ramp for REINS therapeutic horsemanship center in Fallbrook. Smith said he especially appreciated the help from leader George Corn in earning each of his merit badges.
