“He who has a generous eye will be blessed, For he gives of his bread to the poor.”
Proverbs 22:9
What does it mean to have a generous eye? A person with a continual attitude of generosity will see things, needs as well as the answers for those needs. The desire to help will result in the action of giving. Strategies to meet the needs of the poor will pour forth to someone with a bountiful eye.
“Bread” in the proverb may refer to the basic requirements of life, like food, or it may also include a broader reference to the other basic needs of life. Sometimes a person needs encouragement, a ray of hope for a future that is better than their current circumstances.
A person with a generous eye may see a person for what they can become and give a word of encouragement that feeds the soul and lifts that person right out of their stuck place.
A person with a generous eye does not give to get blessed, never the less, the giver will be blessed. It is one of the laws that are as true as the law of gravity. Even if you do not understand it, gravity works all the time. Those who give to the poor will be blessed.
Action: Seek to develop a life style of giving.
