FALLBROOK – Southwest Boulder & Stone announces it will host a free one-and-a-half hour seminar presented by Greg Rubin, owner of California’s Own Native Landscape Design, on Saturday, October 9 in the gardens at its Fallbrook stone yard.
Anyone disappointed by Yosemite because there aren’t any palm trees or succulents, may not be interested in this talk. Everyone else, however, should really get something out of this very detailed examination on how to capture nature’s beauty in their home landscape.
Be prepared to throw everything about ornamental horticulture out the window as
Rubin demonstrates how to create truly breathtaking native landscapes with year-round color and interest that will be the pride (not embarrassment) of the neighborhood. It’s likely to lead to losing the gardener and reducing high water bills, and gaining tons of birds, butterflies, color, and fragrance in a tranquil setting.
Rubin, owner of California’s Own Native Landscape Design, started working with native plants back in 1985, while renovating his parent’s home in Chatsworth. Although educated and subsequently employed in a successful engineering career, Rubin maintained a fascination with native plantings based on this early experience. Soon, he was landscaping for friends and family on weekends and holidays. Demand continued to rise, and by 1993, he was able to start his successful and unusual landscaping business. Since that time, his company has designed over 500 native landscapes in Southern California.
Rubin has been featured in a number of newspapers and magazines.
The seminar will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 9. Southwest Boulder & Stone is located at 5002 Second Street, Fallbrook (in Rainbow – off Old Highway 395 at Second Street). To reserve a spot, call (760) 451-3333 Ext. 718, or register online at
