Dick O'Brien: a great and good man

Dick’s 80-year life was memorialized on Sept. 4. His Navy career, his alcohol abuse educational programs, his photojournalism and his unquenchable thirst for learning were all cited in his service. A Navy color guard, young corpsmen in immaculate white uniforms, provided a final Navy farewell.

But Dick, they missed something. Here is the missing Irish blessing: May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand. Farewell, dear friend...
