Thunderstorms pelt the southland

SAN DIEGO - About 2,000 addresses throughout San Diego County were without power early due to 22 separate weather-related outages, according to San Diego Gas & Electric.

All of the outages occurred Thursday afternoon into Thursday evening -- from Oceanside and Fallbrook to Chula Vista and Crest -- as a series of thunderstorms brought an unusually large amount of lightning and rain to the county. Throughout the afternoon Thursday, 24,200 SDG&E customers lost power for a time.
