Small quake felt this morning; centered near Borrego

BORREGO SPRINGS - A small earthquake rattled the Borrego Springs and Julian area today, according to automated sensors operated by the USGS.

A magnitude 2.2 quake was detected at 7:07 a.m. Its epicenter was near Scissors Crossing, about 10 miles southwest of Borrego Springs, and 35 miles east of Escondido.

A magnitude 3.0 quake struck the same area just after midnight Saturday. No damage was reported....
