Re: 'First Gateway sign installed in Fallbrook" [9/30/2010]

A recent Letter to the Editor complained about the cost of the new entry sign at the south end of town. It did not cost $50,000! The Fallbrook Village Assoc. received a $50,000 grant from the County Board of Supervisors to do a directional sign study and erect appropriate signs directing visitors to the downtown business district.

The study was completed for approximately $7,500. The actual cost of the first sign on the wall by Del Rey Avocado was $10,415 with $6,000 paid by an anonymous donor. This leaves the grant with a balance of $38,000 to continue the project. I hope this clears up any m...
