FALLBROOK – A luncheon was recently held at the Fallbrook VFW to honor students that have written patriotic essays. Patriot’s Pen is an essay contest at the middle school level and the theme this year was, “Does Patriotism Still Matter?”
The first place $500 winner was Jalie Fransway of Zion Lutheran School. The second place $300 winner was Jeremiah Conejos of Potter Junior High School, and the third place $200 winner was Trevor Yerkes, also of Zion Lutheran School.
This year’s Voice of Democracy theme was “Does My Generation Have a Role in America’s Future?” and was open to all students in grades 9 to 12. An oral presentation was required along with a written essay. Dylan Dawkins, a Fallbrook High School student, was the first place $500 winner. Second place, which came with a prize of $300, was awarded to Malary Greenwood, a student at Oasis High School. Brianna Stofflet, another Fallbrook High School studnent, was the third place, $200 winner.
