Make multi-story homes fire safe

SAN DIEGO COUNTY – Many area residents enjoy the comfort of living in a two-story home. Cal Fire advises that these homes require additional fire safety considerations that will help to protect life and property.

Residents should remember that smoke and heat rise, and most sleeping areas are upstairs. The possibility of being overcome by smoke or trapped, because normal exit routes are blocked, is most likely to occur between midnight and 8 a.m., when people are asleep.
