RAINBOW - A 49-year-old Rainbow man who got a leg caught in a woodchipper machine and died was identified today.
The accident occurred at 9329 Moon Ridge Road about 3:20 p.m. Tuesday, while Martimiano Morales Carreon and his adult son were working next to an avocado grove clearing trees, according to San Diego County sheriff's Deputy James McConnaughey.
Carreon used his foot to push a large pile of branches through the chipper, the deputy said, adding that Carreon's foot became entangled and was pulled into the chipper.
Carreon's son was able to stop the chipper and pulled his father out; but by then, Carreon had already sustained major trauma to his lower extremities, McConnaughey said.
Paramedics pronounced Carreon dead at the scene at 3:40 p.m.
