I hesitate to use the sugary expression “Only in Fallbrook,” but this is just too good to resist.
There I was in Major Market a few days ago picking up a few grocery items after work, when suddenly, out of the corner of my eye, I see a bold flash of red strut purposefully through the front door and into the produce section.
A young boy, hanging on his mother’s grocery cart like a little spider monkey suddenly shouted out, “Mom! It’s Santa!” Santa’s here in the store!”
I turned my head back to the flash of red and saw that, indeed, Santa was there. The jolly one was suited up and full of purpose.
He efficiently began selecting some fresh carrots (with tops) – undoubtedly for his trustworthy reindeer. Santa was decidedly on a fresh produce mission as he moved on to other several other veggie selections.
The little boy, quite beside himself, was just bursting with excitement. Santa took a moment to kindly speak with him and say hello to the boy’s mom.
I couldn’t get over how “Only in Fallbrook” this truly was and couldn’t resist smiling as Santa, with his small shopping basket slung over his arm, strode from department to department gathering up his groceries.
Looking around, I noticed the other shoppers in the store didn’t miss his visit either and smiles abounded.
And, just for the record, it has been confirmed: Santa does prefer milk with his Christmas cookies.
