A great memory lost

Decorating the Christmas tree always brings back memories. The children’s handmade ornaments are treasures carefully kept from year to year.

This year an especially poignant unwrapping was a special ornaments sold by Marie Kinnaman, proprietor of the now closed At Home on Main Street. Each year Marie sought then sold items that had a special tree theme. One year it was two lovely ornaments with a tree and poem. Another year it was a beautiful pewter leaf with acorn, and then a unique pencil made from a small branch.

Her purpose was to raise funds to support the care of trees in Save Our Forest/Fallbrook Land Conservancy’s Treescape Project. She gave all proceeds, including her cost, to Save Our Forest. Thank you so much, Marie.

How sad to see that storefront empty. And now another business is closing. Are you even aware?

It raises the question. What would bring you to Main Street to shop? Maybe you can help with ideas.

Let’s think!
