On Dec. 10, the commandant of the Marine Corps issued a new directive to temporarily freeze the hiring for a majority of civilian Marines appropriated funded positions for 90 days.
According to Marine Administrative Message 691/10, the short-term action is necessary to help the Marine Corps reduce its labor budget due to mandated budget reductions for 2012.
