Colgate University to accept two Marine leaders this coming fall

Colgate University is looking for two active duty, reserve or veteran Marines to be accepted for enrollment as part of the Leadership Scholar Program for this year’s Fall semester.

The Leadership Scholar Program is a nationwide program that recognizes students who have a meritorious record of academic achievement and are involved with community service that will contribute towards their growth as future leaders of America.

Marines interested in taking advantage of the four-year program must apply to the Marine Corps Installations West commanding general no later than Jan. 10, and meet eligibility requirements.

To be eligible for the program, the following requirements must be met:

· Must have or will receive an honorable discharge no later than Sept. 1, with no remaining service obligations.

· High school graduate with diploma; the GED will not be considered. Current holders of undergraduate degrees and those seeking advanced degrees do not qualify.

· Minimum combined score of 70 on the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery with a GT score of 115 or higher, as well as a minimum combined math and critical reading score of 1300 on the SAT or at least a composite score of 29 on the ACT. No waivers will be accepted and the scores must be from within five years.

· Meet and complete a screening from your chain of command, which should result in a board report detailing the potential for success.

If eligible, the applicant must include the board report, unofficial high school and college transcripts, Sailor/Marine American Council on Education Registry Transcript, certified copies of Navy Marine Corps Form-118 (3), (11), and (12) and Record of Service, Basic Individual record, Basic Training record, awards and education record, a printed copy of the Colgate University application and an optional letter of recommendation.

Applicants will be reviewed by MCI-West and two applicants will be selected as part of the program to receive admittance to the university as part of the Class of 2015.
