FALLBROOK – In May of 2010, over 200 fourth graders at La Paloma Elementary School planted several varieties of sage seedlings in containers under the direction of Save Our Forest (SOF) volunteers. These seedlings were taken to the SOF nursery, and on January 13, 2011, the students (now fifth graders) had a field trip to the Heller’s Bend Reserve where they planted the same specimens under the direction of SOF and Fallbrook Garden Club volunteers. The Garden Club provided the funds for bus transportation for the students to and from the reserve.
This two year program has been successful...
