Students bring Charlotte's Web to life

BONSALL – Students at Bonsall Elementary School recently performed the play “Charlotte’s Web,” based on the beloved award-winning children’s novel by author E. B. White. The school is keeping the arts alive with a new theater enrichment program organized by parent volunteer Adele McGraw and directed by Al Valletta of Valletta Workshops.

The audience was brought into the story of a little pig that was born a runt. When farm girl Fern learns that the helpless pig is to be killed, she begs her father to let him live and names him Wilbur. After being sent to live on her uncle’s farm, Wilbur meets a bunch of new friends including the unexpected gluttonous rat Templeton and Charlotte, a misunderstood large grey spider. It’s up to Charlotte to save Wilbur’s life before he’ll end up on the dinner table at Christmastime.
