1928 caboose joins Base's museum collection

An all-day move across the base last week of a vintage year caboose culminated a two-year project arranged by Camp Pendleton Museums Office staff and volunteers to reclaim, return, and begin the restoration of this valuable addition to the museum’s collection.

Purchased in 1991 by Steve Bovee, then Navy Commandeer for Base Facilities at Camp Pendleton, AT & SF Railroad caboose 999403 was delivered that year and given a desert camouflage paint job.
