Mr. Bowles is upset that the Supreme Court removed prayer from schools and “thus deny believers this right.” The right is not denied; one can pray alone anytime. Schools are about education. Better to learn about religion than pray.

Suppose prayer is permitted in schools and all join in. Native Americans put on bells and dance. Muslims kneel on prayer rugs. Hindus chant mantras. Buddhists spin prayer wheels. Pentecostals speak in tongues and Catholics recite rosaries. Where’s the education?
