Former Marine must stand on trial for murder of 2-month-old daughter

VISTA - A former Camp Pendleton Marine accused of causing the death of his 2-month-old daughter nearly five years ago must stand trial on murder and assault charges, a judge ruled today.

Gabriel Gaitan, 26, was arrested last October in Texas by San Diego County sheriff's homicide detectives in connection with the death of his daughter, Elizabeth.

Vista Judge Aaron Katz, who presided over the defendant's preliminary hearing, ruled that enough evidence was presented to warrant a trial for Gaitan, who is due back in court on Feb. 28 for arraignment.
