John Douglas Tanner, Jr

On Feb. 13, 2011, John Douglas Tanner, Jr. passed away from multiple myeloma after a long and painful struggle. John was born in 1943 in Quantico, Va. to Dorothy and Jack Tanner. The family moved to Fallbrook in 1946. John attended the Fallbrook schools; he attained the rank of Eagle Scout and was outstanding in swimming and football. He continued his education at Pomona College and obtained his master’s degree from Claremont Graduate School.

After graduation, he was hired by Palomar College where he worked for 35 years, retiring six years ago. At peace now, John leaves his wife Karen of 23 ye...
