Power outage affects over 1,000 Fallbrook customers today; second significant outage in 48 hours

FALLBROOK - More than 1,000 San Diego Gas & Electric customers in Fallbrook and neighboring areas were without power for several hours today.

SDG&E reported a power outage due to a problem in the overhead electrical system that left 1,000-2,000 customers in northeast Fallbrook, Pala, Bonsall and San Luis Rey Heights customers temporarily without electricity.

The outage started about 1:30 p.m., affecting residences, major golf resorts, and other businesses in the area.

Most of the Pala Mesa Golf Resort property at 2001 Old Highway 395 was out of service at 1:30 p.m., a clerk said. The resort closed its restaurant and other amenities due to the outage.

Power was not restored to most customers for approximately three (3) hours, at approximately 4:30 p.m.

Less than 48 hours prior, a portion of that same area was without power for over seven (7) hours. That outage began Sat. evening, Feb. 19 and continued into the early morning hours of Sunday before power was restored.

SDG&E has not provided information at this time pertaining to what has led to the outages.
