SAN DIEGO - About 160 Marines and sailors in the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing returned today to MCAS Miramar from their deployment to Afghanistan.
The personnel make up the headquarters squadron of the wing, said Sgt. Sean McGinty, a base spokesman.
Marines at the base are also held their annual Battle Colors Ceremony, which featured the USMC Silent Drill Platoon, Drum and Bugle Corps and the Battle Color Guard.
The Drum and Bugle Corps combined contemporary songs and traditional marching music with uniquely choreographed drill movements in a program entitled ''Music in Motion.'
The Silent Drill Platoon performed intricate drill routines without verbal commands.
Battle Colors ceremonies will take place at Camp Pendleton on Friday and the Marine Corps Recruit Depot Saturday.
