RMWD announces opening for Division 5 Director

FALLBROOK – The Rainbow Municipal Water District is accepting applications from residents of division 5 who are interested in being appointed to the district’s governing board.

At the Feb. 22 meeting of the board, newly appointed director from Division 5, Paul Georgantas, notified the board that he had accepted a job opportunity out of the area, and as a result was regretfully stepping down from his position on the board. Georgantas stated that he would fulfill his duties as director until his replacement could be seated.

When asked about his departure, Mr. Georgantas replied, “It is regrettable that outside business interests have taken me away from a group that I believe has the best interests of the community in mind. I hope a serious and thoughtful replacement will take my seat and contribute to the solutions of the significant issues facing RMWD and all water authorities in the state.”

Rainbow’s general manager, Dave Seymour, said he was disappointed when he heard the news that Georgantas was leaving, but understood the situation. “It sounds like he has a fantastic opportunity, so we are very happy for him, but we were looking forward to gleaning some of his knowledge and experience relating to technology.”

Seymour explained the process for finding a replacement. “We will post the opening for at least 15 days, and then the board will evaluate potential candidates and select the replacement. We hope to make the appointment at the April 26 board meeting. That person will hold the seat until the next board election, which will be November 2012.”

Division 5 is in the northeastern portion of the district, and incorporates the community of Rainbow. Seymour said interested residents should contact the district’s customer service staff at (760) 728-1178 to find out if they live in the Division 5 area or to request more information.
